Long Eaton started the game strongly with their first chance of the game being a header by James Taylor that was denied on the line. In the same flurry of play, Callum Cocks had a header that was well saved by the leaping Brandon Ganley.
The Blues went 1-0 up in the 21st minute. Lovely attacking football from Brad Munn’s side resulted in James Shaw receiving the ball on the right side of the box and the finish was very similar to the one the winger scored against Coventry Sphinx. He shifted the ball onto his favoured right foot and whipped the ball into the top right corner. There was too much power on the shot for Ganley to keep the effort out.
The home side doubled their lead in the 39th minute. It came from a long throw-in from the left by Ryan Campbell-Gordon. The ball evaded bodies in the box and bounced to Jamie Hanson who reacted quickest to prod the ball past Ganley.
Gianluca Bucci came close to adding a third just before the half-time whistle. Liam Loughlan played a first timed cross from the left that found the defender however his header went wide of the right post.
Ryan Campbell-Gordon was forced off early on in the second half after a late challenge by Andre Landell. The Sporting Khalsa striker was shown a yellow card.
Sporting Khalsa got a goal back in the 59th minute. It was Landell with the finish. The ball fell to him in the box after a corner from the right by Robbie Bunn and he swept the ball into the bottom left corner with his right foot.
Lewis King was called into action shortly after Khalsa scored their first. Bunn picked up the ball from the left side of the box and struck a shot well with his right boot, thankfully for King it was straight at him.
Chances were coming fast for the visitors. Todd Ferrier had the ball on the left wing and dinked a cross into the centre of the box. Landell rose highest but he seen his header go narrowly wide of the right post.
Shaw was agonisingly close to getting his second of the game in the 72nd minute. Loughlan and Evan Garnett linked up in the box and Shaw had acres of space to the left of Garnett. The striker teed up Shaw who took his shot first time but his placed effort struck the right post.
Khalsa came close to an equaliser in the 78th minute. Simeone Cobourne took the ball around an outrushing King and had to rely on a sliding Hanson to clear the ball off the line.
Sporting Khalsa were level in the 87th minute. The attack came from a goal kick which was won in the air by Landell. His flicked header put Cobourne through on goal who showed a good level of composure to finish past King into the left side of the goal.
