Long Eaton United vs Coleshill Town
Northern Premier League – Midlands Division
12/04/2025 – 3pm KO – Family Only Stadium, Grange Park
The Blues are back at the Family Only Stadium for the second time in consecutive weeks as we host Coleshill Town on Saturday in the Northern Premier League – Midlands Division.
Brad Munn’s side are looking to ‘right the wrongs’ after a 3-1 loss to Racing Club Warwick last Saturday, meaning our nine-win streak came to an unfortunate end.
All focus turns to this fixture however as a win would put us in a very strong spot.
Coleshill Town’s season:
The Colemen sit eight in the league table with the playoffs now impossible.
22 of their 53 points have come away from home, winning six and drawing four.
Coleshill Town got off to a steady start in the league this season, only losing one of their opening six. The loss came against Racing Club Warwick, however wins against Loughborough Students, us and Bedworth United in an unbeaten streak which reached four (only league games) put them in a good spot.
Coleshill then struggled to find a consistent run of form during the weeks that followed, only picking up one win in ten. The win came against a struggling Rugby Town side, however losses were suffered against Wellingborough Town, Sporting Khalsa, Quorn, Shepshed Dynamo, Worcester City and AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
However, they returned back to winning ways in impressive fashion after beating second placed Corby Town by four goals to nil. Alex McSkeane bagged a hat-trick for the Colemen.
Coleshill had a wonderful Boxing Day as they put six goals past Lye Town and stopped them from scoring. Sam Tye scored four goals for the Colemen in this game.
They were involved in a thriller on the 22nd of February as they drew 3-3 to Worcester City. Coleshill opened the scoring in just the third minute, however had to rely on an 88th minute equaliser from Taylor Carter-Byrne to make sure the points were shared at Pack Meadow.
Alex McSkeane is Coleshill’s top scorer in the league this season, netting 13.
The Reverse Fixture:
We travelled to Pack Meadow on Monday the 19th of August 2024 to face Coleshill Town in the league where they claimed all three points, beating us 3-2.
There was a familiar face lining up for Coleshill Town at the time, our very own, Gianluca Bucci.
Ben Billingham opened the scoring for Coleshill in the 14th minute, but Evan Garnett equalised for us in the 34th.
The Colemen regained the lead in the 45+4th minute after a goal from Sam Fitzgerald and another from Ben Billingham in the 58th minute meant Coleshill had a two-goal cushion.
Evan scored another for us in the 79th, however the match finished 3-2 in favour of Coleshill.
We will be looking for revenge tomorrow.
Current Form:
We have moved to fourth in the form guide after last week’s loss to Racing Club Warwick.
However, it still looks very nice, winning our previous nine beforehand.
The form guide shows our wins against Anstey Nomads, Shepshed Dynamo, Sutton Coldfield Town, Darlaston Town and Rugby Town, which puts us on 15 points out of a possible 18. Seriously not bad.
Coleshill Town are not far behind us in the form guide as they are in sixth position.
They have picked up 11 points from a possible 18.
The Colemen have only lost one in their previous six, this came when they faced Anstey Nomads as they went onto lose 2-1.
Wins against Coventry Sphinx, AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Boldmere St Michaels earned Coleshill nine points. In addition, draws against Worcester City and Corby Town earned Coleshill two very decent points.
Two sides who are in good form going head-to-head on Saturday, this should be a good one.
Brad speaks ahead of Saturday’s match:
“We will prepare for this game exactly how we do for every game. When we get to the game next week we need to prepare right before the game. That’s my only little gripe (vs Racing Club Warwick), I don’t think we were as good as we normally are before a game.”
“But during the week we will prepare exactly how we normally do. We will certainly do everything right, we will be in to right the wrongs of everything that we did today (vs Racing Club Warwick) and we’ll go into next week full of confidence.”
“You don’t become a bad side from one loss.”
Jayden touches on Coleshill Town at home:
“We did a good achievement winning nine league games on the bounce, but after last week’s loss we need to win the next remaining games until hopefully the play-offs and go on another run now.”
“We will get back into training on Tuesday and Thursday and go and get a win next week.”
“We are confident, we are confident in everyone’s ability, we are a good squad. We will go and train this week and we are confident next week that we will get three points and hopefully get another run going because we are good enough.”
