Sutton Coldfield Town vs Long Eaton United

Northern Premier League – Midlands Division

15/03/2025 – 15:00 – Central Ground, Coles Lane, Sutton Coldfield

Sutton Coldfield Town (A) preview:

The Blues are back in league action tomorrow as we travel to Sutton Coldfield to face The Royals.

After a two-week break, the boys are ready to get straight back into it and continue this outstanding run of form in which is a crucial end to the season.

Brad Munn’s side are currently third in the table and are situated in the play-offs by seven points.

As we approach the run-in it is still all to play for.

How have Sutton Coldfield been doing?

The Royals are in ninth place in the league at this moment in time and will have their eyes set on making a late run for the play-offs.

They are nine points off fifth placed Anstey Nomads, with a total of 47 points, therefore a near perfect run-in is required.

Eight of their fourteen wins have come at home; therefore, Saturday will be a tricky outing for the Blues.

Saturday’s hosts had a decent start to the season, claiming eight points from a possible fifteen in the opening five games of the campaign.

Coldfield hit form in October, winning three league games in a week between the 5th and the 12th. These came against Loughborough Students, Worcester City and Hinckley LRFC. These wins were a part of a nine-game unbeaten run in the league stretching from the 13th of August to the 15th of October.

In a contrasting nature, Sutton Coldfield then failed to score in four consecutive league games after losing to Anstey Nomads, Racing Club Warwick, Sporting Khalsa and us.

The Royals hosted Aston Villa Under 21’s in the third round of the Birmingham Senior Cup however was knocked out of the competition after a 5-0 loss to the Premier League outfit.

The reverse fixture:

We welcomed Sutton Coldfield to the Family Only Stadium on Saturday the 9th of November.

The Blues came out 2-0 winners in the end and claimed all three points.

It was goalless at half-time.

Evan Garnett opened the scoring in the 73rd minute with Liam Loughlan adding a second two minutes later in the 75th.

Hopefully history can repeat itself on Saturday afternoon.

Current form:

Sutton Coldfield come into this one in respectable form.

They have only lost twice in their previous six, these came against Darlaston Town and Racing Club Warwick, both at home.

They have three wins in their last six, 1-0 at home to Worcester, 2-0 away at Coventry Sphinx and 4-1 away at Lye Town.

Their most recent match took place last Saturday away at Loughborough Students which finished 1-1.

The Royals are unbeaten in three and because of that sit eighth in the form guide.

We come into this one with perfect form. WWWWWW, topping the form guide.

The Blues have scored 23 in those six wins and only conceded three! Remarkable.

These wins have been achieved against Boldmere St Michaels, Loughborough Students, Corby Town, Bedworth United, Anstey Nomads and Shepshed Dynamo.

Will Sutton Coldfield Town be added to that list come 5 o’clock tomorrow evening?
