Long Eaton United vs Corby Town
Northern Premier League – Midlands Division
15/02/2025 – 3pm KO – Family Only Stadium
Long Eaton United welcome Corby Town to the Family Only Stadium this Saturday in the Northern Premier League – Midlands Division.
Both sides go into this fixture off the back of wins last week as Long Eaton and Corby both look to be in those play-off positions come the end of the season.
It is set to be a cracking game of football so get down to Grange Park this Saturday afternoon and get behind your boys in Black and Blue.
How have Corby Town been doing?
The Steelmen are having a very good campaign as they currently sit in 2nd position in the Northern Premier League – Midlands Division with 57 points.
They showed their quality early on in the season beating third placed Worcester City by two goals to nil. Goals from Fletcher Toll and Jordan O’Brien secured the three points for Corby.
Last week’s 1-0 win at Anstey Nomads meant that Corby beat the Nomads home and away. They won the away fixture 2-0 with goals from Tristan Thompson-Matthews and their captain Rory McAuley. Anstey Nomads are play-off contenders sat one point behind the blues with two games in hand.
Corby lost 4-0 to Sporting Khalsa on the 23rd of November 2024. Khalsa are 4th. Andre Landell was sent off for Khalsa in the 12th minute but that only seemed to spur them on. Chay Tilt scored a hat-trick which was crowned off in the 56th minute and Peter Taylor also got on the scoresheet.
Hinckley LRFC shocked the Steelmen when they arrived at Steel Park. Hinckley, who sit in 17th place, were 3-0 winners on the day. Goals from Jordan Burrows, Liam Read and Aaron Nuttall cemented this win.
The Reverse Fixture
Long Eaton suffered a 7-0 loss last time they faced Corby Town in the league on the 19th of October 2024.
Fletcher Toll scored three, Reuben Marshall two, and one each for Neo Dobson and Callum Milne.
The Blues will be out for revenge tomorrow afternoon.
Current Form for both sides
Long Eaton’s current run of form stretches back to Boxing Day.
That was a 5-1 win against Grantham Town, a 1-1 draw to Hinckley LRFC followed on New Year’s Day.
The potential result of the season then occurred on the 4th of January when the Blues beat league leaders Quorn 3-2 away from home.
Long Eaton were then out of action for three weeks but on the 25th of January the Blues returned but lost 1-0 away to Worcester City.
Long Eaton come into this fixture with back-to-back wins and clean sheets. Brad Munn’s side beat Boldmere St Michaels 5-0 and then Loughborough Students away from home last week 4-0.
Corby Town have one loss in their previous six, that came against Quorn on the 1st of February when the Steelmen came out 3-0 losers.
Apart from that it is five wins out of six for Corby.
These wins have been against AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Rugby Town, Coventry Sphinx, Bedworth United and Anstey Nomads.
Two in-form sides going head-to-head. This should be a good one.
Brad Munn speaks ahead of Corby Town
“We are very prepared. We prepare incredibly well for every team that we play against. We do our homework but at the end of the day so will they and they have got a really good manager whose had some really good football teams in the past.”
“They did an absolute number on us on a weekday earlier on in the season so if we can’t prepare for next week then we can’t prepare for any game.”
“I think it will be a good game of football. I think if anyone has the opportunity to come and watch a game of football I think they should come and watch that and it will really give them a feel of non-league.”
“Corby travel well and if we can get as many people through the gate then that would be great.”
“We are playing some good stuff and the boys deserve more eyes on them. They’re a credit to themselves, they’re a credit to me and they’re a credit to this football club.”
Liam Loughlan focuses on Saturday’s fixture
“We did not get the result we wanted when we went to their place. Again, we all know what we have got to do.”
“We will go into that game and win the game by any means. That is how we are going into every game, so yes we are feeling confident.”
