Blues Boss could give Young Duo chance up front

Blues Boss could give Young Duo chance up front

Ritchie Woods11 Feb 2011 - 10:06

YOUNG strike duo Harry Lord and Josh Williams could be handed starts for Long Eaton United this weekend

The Blues will be without Kev Mabon and on-loan Steve Chaplin for tomorrow's home match against Thackley as both are unavailable due to work commitments.

So Rotherham United youth player Lord and former Stapenhill forward Williams could get their chance to impress boss Glyn Stacey.

He said: "Both have shown signs of what they can do. With our two main strikers out, we may chuck the two kids in from the start – if I don't get another forward in before the weekend."

Mabon hit a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Lincoln Moorlands Railway last weekend but a run of four successive stalemates came to an end on Tuesday night, when Long Eaton lost 3-0 at home to Armthorpe Welfare.

"It was a very poor performance," said Stacey.

"We didn't turn up and we deserved to lose 3-0.
"I've got no complaints about the result at all.

"We've been playing well and not getting any rewards but when we play badly, we are getting punished.

"We switched off and found ourselves 3-0 down after half an hour. We were better in the second half and it was quite even but we didn't really look like getting back into it."
